Social Media Update

I have given up the social media, ie, Facebook and Google Plus. I was spending far too much time on it. I even cut into the time I should be sleeping.

My other blog, Old Retired Petty Officer is now decommissioned as well. I am debating to upgrade this blog but I have not made up my mind.

Should I upgrade, this will be my sole venue on the web. I am just tired from all the issues with my health and the dealings with the VA Healthcare System, particularly the Great Los Angeles System.  I have spent an inordinate amount of time just calling and leaving messages. I still have not heard the results of the CT Scan that I had done almost two months ago. The wear and tear is becoming a burden………..

If anyone wants to reach me my sole email is now rigger45@hotmail.com. If you would like my phone number, email me and I will give it to you.

This will be on the Lexicans blog as well.

About last Thursday…………..Life It’s Ownself……

This is what I posted at Old Retired Petty Officer this morning…….

About Last Thursday

But for the sake of not using links all the time here is the entire post………………………

On this past Thursday the 13th of April……………….
I had an appointment with the neurologist at the Sepulveda Veteran’s Ambulatory Care Clinic in North Hills, California in the San Fernando Valley. It is such a fun drive in because of the 14, 5 and 405 Freeways. This is a regularly scheduled thing for yours truly as I have had peripheral neuropathy for almost 2 years now.

I showed up on time even with the traffic. The neurologist I see is a young guy and I like him. I hope the Department of Veteran’s Affairs tries to keep him. We did the usual talk about how things have been with my feet and lower legs have been concerning the new medication. That is new since this past winter. I take pregabalin 25mg capsules at the rate of 6 each, twice a day. I told him that sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesn’t.

We then got into the lab work from the last visit about three months before………………..yeah………..
A CT and EMG have been ordered. The CT is scheduled for 26 June………..I have a way to make that happen faster, I do believe. I am on the Veteran’s Choice Program because I live over 40 miles away from the nearest VA facility. For me that was the Veteran’s Community Based Outreach Clinic in Lancaster. The Choice Program lets us use the outside the same as the VA system. Perhaps I can get things sped up a bit……………………..😏😏

It seems there were three antibodies in the blood work that are normally associated with………..cancer…………..yeah………..three months? I think that I should have been notified just a bit sooner on this one, perhaps?

A CT Scan and an EMG(Nerve Conduction) were ordered by Doc and off to the lab I went………8 vials of blood were drawn…………….yep……………..shit like this is getting far too regular ya know……

Of course by this time, the mind is going about a million miles an hour just like it did on September 4, 2009 when I got the “good news, bad news” speech from my doctor in Wichita. That was when the left kidney went bye-bye 17 days later.

I now sit waiting…..
When I got home, I tried to sleep as the graveyard shift awaited…………..allegory there, I think? What say you Chris Goodrich? Oh, where were we? Sleep………..yeah. I wound up being up for around 24 hours. I got home Friday morning and after what I hope was the last cigar, the lights went out. I did manage to catch my Beloved Montreal Canadiens win game two over the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Oh yeah, waiting…………………
I called the records folks and did the dance and my records from the time I got in the Greater Los Angeles Veteran’s Healthcare System. There is a mouthful!!!!!
I also have to fill out the release to satisfy the legal stuff.
I need the records for my regular Doc in Tehachapi in that he may have reservations about how things work at the Federal Government level.

Oh, did I mention that the neurologist said that the antibodies were indicative of the possibility of cancer? 😔😔😔😔😔

Missus ORPO and her sister had a long phone conversation yesterday about me………..the Sis-in-Law thinks that I crashed so hard as a reaction to getting the “C” word news………….It can have an effect I suppose.

I guess I will be blogging more again as this will be the journal of that little trip………….
We will see how it goes………………………………….

There was only one catch……………………………………

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one’s safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn’t, but if he were sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn’t have to; but if he didn’t want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle. (p. 56, ch. 5)

Going to school

The AMU where I work is sending me to F-16 Advanced Crew Chief School at Hill AFB, Utah. Leaving tomorrow from LAX and returning on the 19th of November. Three week long course. I saw the curriculum and it reminds me of going through the FRS at Whidbey and Lemoore. I taught similar courses myself during one tour……..almost thirty years ago.

Got most stuff packed for the trip already. Both the Missus and I are battling some head cold stuff…..the ear aches being the worst……

Will Fisker Motors Be Another Solyndra?

Do we as the taxpayers, have to really put up with this?

This thing is not a really good machine according to Popular Mechanics. I want to see a true performance test and review………….yeah………………..like that is going to happen.

But DeCaprio and Algore are going to buy them…………OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Does that mean I have too, as well? Nope. Ain’t gonna happen. For the price of one of these, I can acquire a serious performance car. Or for that price, I could buy three of the 310 hp, 31 mpg Ford Mustang………The Base Version no less. In a no sales tax state I could get four of those Mustangs. I live in California………So the rest would cover the licensing and taxes……………….!!!!!!! I want a Ticket Maker!!!!!!!

A “responsible luxury car” is used in the article………or something to that effect, anyway. It was reviewed in Vanity Fair……..Like those folks know anything about performance automobiles.

Snigs had a rough day.

She could use a hug from all of her friends in the blogosphere.

The beginning of her post.

As Joe Friday always said, “Just the facts, ma’am”.

6/30/11 0700 Ready to leave for work, husband looks at me & says, “I don’t feel good”.  Asked him to explain- CHEST PAINS.  Told him I’d get him to the ER and he first said no.  Called work, told them I’d be there if & when I got there, husband having chest pains.  Returned to husband, sweating and chest pains worse.  Called 911.  Returned to husband, now grey, cold & really sweating.  Did the total nursing run down: Started when? Pain is where?  Describe the pain?   Stuffed aspirin in him and he decides to get up.  He made it to the kitchen before falling out.  Caught him & lowered him to the floor.

EBT: “The Less Shameful” Food Stamp Card

Courtesy of the Patriot Update.

I live in California as you all know. It is amazing what this thing can be used for.

And with our basket case legislature, governor and cabinet it will only get worse.

My Friend Ann-Marie Murrell at Facebook had this up originally. So the hat tip is to her.

Weekend Outrage: From my buddy Buck

Buck has this really good blog, Exile in Portales. He was one of my first followers at Old Retired Petty Officer after the cancer.

Got to link him every now and then. This one is an eye opener! But purely from Buck’s point of view, which at times, is really unique!

So go on over and have a look. It will be worth it.

So how’s that sucking-up-to-Muslims thing working out for ya?

From Mike at Cold Fury……………………………….. Opening paragraph in the high lighted section of his post.

“The confusion over the details of Osama bin Laden’s death has prompted wild speculation and a slew of conspiracy theories. Many Pakistanis believe the al-Qaida leader was not actually living in Abbottabad, while some jihadists are claiming the Americans buried Osama at sea because they had defiled his body……………………….

I swiped this from April

This is a paragraph from April’s Blog, the Hyacinth Girl.

Anyway, as much as equality is fabulous in theory, the repeal of DADT will simply open the floodgates for people who believe they’ve got something to prove, just as many gay couples who weren’t ready got married just because they could. And I’m sorry, but just because you can join the military as an openly gay person doesn’t mean you should.

Seems April has a really good view of the situation. She is right. Just because you can does not mean you should. It is a spartan and difficult life. Especially in the combat arms fields and the sea service.
