Day trip to Baker

We decided to run up the 15 to Baker. One of our favorite little places is there, that being Alien Fresh Jerky. I got a T shirt that after it is laundered will be posted.

I did take the Trusty Nikon and I did get a few pictures taken. It was an aim and fire sort of thing.

Made a trip down below today

I had an appointment with the podiatrist at the Sepulveda VA ACC today. I got new inserts and ankle braces. Yippee………

On the way back I stopped at the Lamont Odett View Point and broke out the Trusty Nikon.

I hope you like the results.

Monday run to Lancaster…..

Pictures ensued…..

I had to take a release form to my VA doc from my dentist. It seems he is worried about the mixing of medications used for doing the dental work that I need and the ones the VA has me on. Another fun process………..argh……… The dentist also thinks it is a good idea to wait until the urinary issues to be resolved before I have teeth pulled and some oral surgery……

I have to admit that this stuff is getting old….. If it ain’t one thing, its another.

Seeing as the Trusty Nikon was in the car, I decided to grab a few pics on the way home. The H-60 was a pleasant surprise. It was shooting touch and goes at Mojave and I got lucky enough to get a few shots of it. The day is windy and we are under a wind advisory beginning at 1600 PDT…. The wind blows in the desert….. Big surprise isn’t it!

So here they all are!

Click them to enlarge and please enjoy!

ORPO Sends.

Sunrise in the Antelope Valley

I had to take Missus ORPO to LAX to fly to Syracuse, NY to surprise Son Number 1 on his Fortieth Birthday. I was up at 0100 and we were on the road at 0200. I pulled up in front of American Airlines in about 0350 and I was headed home by 0415. I stopped for breakfast at Denney’s in Santa Claria for breakfast and Stater Bros in Mojave where I picked up a new IPA from Sierra Nevada.

Coming down the hill to Palmdale is a scenic pull out and the sky in the East was getting light so I decided to break out the Nikon.

Some are good and some are not. I am still trying to get it figured out.

Train Pr0n…………..again…………..

Not much to blog about lately…………….the news is the news and the repetitive bullshit gets to be a pain………………………….

Yours truly has the http://www.railpictures.net/ site up and I thought I would share a great photo with you all.

The following are from Railpictures dot Net from a place I loved to be when I was on the ballast trains…………………….The BNSF Needles Subdivision.

One of BNSF Railway's many, many intermodal trains speeds across the Mojave Desert, one of a seemingly endless string of double-stack trains on the railroad's Transcon mainline. BNSF ES44C4 6861, ES44DC 7460 and ES44C4 6697 are in charge of train Z-LPKLAC7-01A (Priority UPS-LTL Intermodal; Logistics Park Kansas City KS to Los Angeles CA) on February 3rd, 2014.

Most places on the Needles Sub are nothing more than station signs…………..The Bagdad Cafe is now in Newberry Springs…………………………………

This is a lonesome place………………………I love it out there. I may take a day this coming weekend and go take some pictures.

The Union Pacific(Southern Pacific) yard also has the junction with the BNSF Mojave Subdivision. The BNSF has trackage rights over the Tehachapi Summit and the Tehachapi Loop from Mojave to Kern Junction.
